The Power Of DSLR Cameras
Original Photography Slideshow
Digital SLR cameras have brought high quality photography gear to the masses. But it is important to remember that a professional quality DSLR camera is only one part of what it takes to take incredible pictures. You will also need to know how to make best use of your DSLR camera and that can be a lot more complex with a DSLR than with a consumer quality point and type camera.
And I think even more important than understanding the technicalities of how to use your camera is having a good eye. A good sense of what will make a good picture. A great example of this kind of "eye" can be seen when looking at these Original Photos by one of my favorite photographers.
From personal experience I recommend a Canon Rebel XTi Digital SLR in particular. IIt is a fantastic camera that has worked well for me without any real issues for approximately three years now. It's also rather inexpensive by the pricing standards of high quality cameras. Of course you should know that those standards are rather high, it is about $700 without a lens!
As you learn more on the subject of pro quality cameras you will come to understand that the lens is extremely important. If you are used to point and clicks then you are most likely used to thinking that the amount of megapixels is the most important thing about a camera but that's not true at all.
With high quality cameras, the lens is what makes the biggest difference in the quality of your photographs. In reality the subject of lenses is too deep for me to cover here, I just want to make sure you are aware of the importance of lenses and that if you want to get really serious about taking exceptional pictures you will need to look into the subject more deeply.
Just like with any other skill, you will only become a expert photographer with lots of practice. You have to read all about taking pictures and then you will need to take tons of photos testing out all of what you've found out.
